THE RESTORATION IS FINISHED
THE LENGTH OF THE MAIN STEM OF PITE RIVER IS OVER 400 KILOMETRES. THE GREAT LAKES MAVASJAURE AND LAKE PIESKEHAURE AT THE NORWEGIAN BORDER ARE THE SOURCE LAKES OF THE RIVER. THE RIVER HAS MANY AND LARGE SLOW FLOWING AREAS AND SEVERAL GIANT LAKES SUCH AS. LAKE TJEGGELVAS, LAKE RAPPEN AND LAKE VUOLVOJAURE ALONG ITS COURSE.
PITEÄLVEN CAN BE DIVIDED INTO THREE DIFFERENT PARTS;
MOUNTAIN RIVER FROM LAKE MAVASJAURE / PIESKEHAURE DOWN TO LAKE TJEGGELVAS,
THE FOREST RIVER FROM LAKE TJEGGELVAS DOWN TO STORFORSEN (EUROPE'S LARGEST UNBINDED WATERFALL), AND
THE COASTAL RIVER FROM STORFORSEN AND DOWN TO CITY OF PITEÅ AND THE SEA.
