WHY RESTORE RIVERS?

DURING MID 19th CENTURY, LARGE-SCALE TIMBER FLOATING ERA BEGINS. THE WATERCOURSES WAS THE BEST WAY TO TRANSPORT THE TIMBER FROM THE FOREST-RICH INLANDS TO THE SAWMILL INDUSTRIES AT THE COAST.

TO FACILITATE THE TIMBER FLOATING, THE WATERCOURSES WERE STRAIGHTENED AND CLEANED ON BOULDERS AND ROCKS. CONSEQUENTLY, ALL HABITATS AND ENVIRONMENTS FOR THE AQUATIC SPECIES LIKE FISH AND MUSSLES WAS ERADICATED.
